SwitchBot K10+ Pro: Improving A Solid Product

SwitchBot K10+ Pro assembled on the floor

SwitchBot released its first robot vacuum cleaner, the SwitchBot K10+, only a year ago. It was a good offering, especially for their foray into this market. One unique thing about it was its size; it is significantly smaller than most other units, allowing it to get to areas that some robot vacuums cannot. Now, they released an upgraded version of their inaugural offering named the SwitchBot K10+ Pro. What did they upgrade? Is it better than the original? That’s the subject of this quick review.

Editor’s Note: The SwitchBot K10+ Pro was provided to me for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my assessment of the product, as I always give my honest opinion. Trust is important to me!

SwitchBot K10+ Pro differences from the original

The K10+ Pro is very similar to the SwitchBot K10+ as you can see above. Visually, the main differences are a change in color on the base of the docking station and the size of the docking sensor on the front of the robot vacuum. The setup in the app and general functionality are the same, so I’m not going to go into detail about that here. You can get that information in my SwitchBot K10+ review.

However, I did notice a few differences in how the devices perform:

  • The K10+ Pro seemed to map my floor much quicker, but it was just as accurate of a mapping.
  • The corner cleaning capabilities of the Pro model are better than that of the original. This, and the faster mapping may be due to the added position-sensitive detector that the original doesn’t have.
  • The Pro model has more suction power, at 3000 Pa, as compared to the original K10+’s 2500 Pa. I noticed that it did seem to clean my hardwood floors better.
  • The brush attached to the bottom of the unit is now a more durable all-rubber design as compared to the original model’s combined rubber and hair brush material.
  • The larger docking sensor presumable helps this device to dock quicker and more accurately than the original.

In real performance, this device was faster at cleaning and did a better job on my hardwood floors. However, it seemed to get stuck on my carpet, with an error about the brush being stuck. I didn’t have this problem with the previous unit, and I may just need to adjust the suction power or some other setting to get this right.

Final thoughts

The original K10+ works well and has many more features than most robot vacuums in its price range. The SwitchBot K10+ Pro adds better sensors and more suction power which leads to better cleaning. That said, if you already have the K10+ I wouldn’t say it isn’t worth upgrading.
